Uplift Tech Cabinets: A Fusion of Art Deco and Modern Functionality

Profiles Collection by Howard Katz: A New Standard in Bathroom Furniture

Introducing the Uplift Tech Cabinets by Howard Katz, a unique blend of art deco and modern functionality. This innovative design, part of the Profiles Collection, offers a versatile solution for complex, multi-space projects, setting a new standard in bathroom furniture.

The inspiration for this design came from the need for a versatile and flexible solution that could adapt to the unique spatial configurations of complex projects. The Profiles Collection is a one-stop shop of product choices, no matter the project or space requirements. It is more than a cookie-cutter approach; it is a tribute to the art deco era with a modern twist.

The Profiles Collection is primarily made from mirrored glass and aluminum. The aluminum is extruded from 6063 Alloy, machined, polished, or acid etched in the case of gold or black anodizing. The glass is typical silvered mirror or, in the case of the drawer system, colored or painted glass is used. This combination of materials and techniques results in a product that is both aesthetically pleasing and durable.

The medicine cabinets are offered in a range of sizes, with widths of 12 inches, 16 inches, 20 inches, and 24 inches; heights in 30-inch and 40-inch choices; and, 4-inch and 6-inch depths. Profiles modular lighting is offered in 30-inch and 40-inch heights and 3.5-inch and 5-inch widths. It has a high lumen output and 90+ CRI (Color Rendering Index) to render remarkable, realistic color. This range of options allows for a high degree of customization to suit any project needs.

The project started in February 2017 and finished in April of 2018 in Bristol, PA. It was exhibited in the National Kitchen and Bath (KBIS) show in Orlando, FL in January of 2018. The design was based on the revival of the 1920's design aesthetic using chrome and nickel-plated details in bathroom cabinetry and lighting. The challenge was in the details, producing the parts with consistent tolerances and attention to finishing detail. All parts are customer machined and plated or anodized in state-of-the-art facilities.

This design was awarded the Golden in A' Bathroom Furniture and Sanitary Ware Design Award in 2019. The award is granted to marvelous, outstanding, and trendsetting creations that reflect the designer's prodigy and wisdom. They are venerated products and bright ideas that advance art, science, design, and technology, embodying extraordinary excellence and significantly impacting the world with their desirable characteristics.
